A hot and sunny day is forecast Sunday for Denver, with wind gusts that could get as high as 21 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service cautions people to be aware of high fire danger conditions.

Sunday’s high is expected to get up to 97 degrees with a partly cloudy evening and a low near 71 degrees, forecasters predicted.

Monday and Tuesday’s highs will likely be in the 80s going back up to 90 degrees on Wednesday and 93 on Thursday, according to the weather service. A slight chance of Thunderstorms is expected Monday night and Tuesday.

The hazardous weather outlook in northeast and north central Colorado warns of high fire danger Sunday with more dry and hot temperatures expected later in the week. The hot, windy and dry conditions, especially in the afternoon, will be most extreme in the Front Range mountains below 10,000 feet, high mountain valleys and around the northern foothills and Cheyenne Ridge, according to the hazardous weather outlook.

A cold front is expected to bring cooler temperatures Friday and Saturday, the weather service stated.
