A Cessna aircraft ran off the runway at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport Wednesday night and the pilot was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m., according to the North Metro Fire Rescue District.

The plane came to a stop on West 120th Avenue, the fire department said. The road has been closed for cleanup and investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The pilot’s injuries are not life threatening, the fire department said.
