If you haven’t seen this photo from Friday night’s Rocky Mountain Showdown taken by The Post’s Andy Cross, it’s time that you did.
It is, perhaps, the greatest photo taken in the more-than-100-year history of the rivalry — in a sense, the “Last Supper” of Rocky Mountain Showdown photos.
And not just because it was taken at the final Showdown to be played at Broncos Stadium at Mile High.
It’s the layers, the emotions, the characters — all essential to the photo’s composition.
There’s cellphone guy in the corner, drinking who knows what, oblivious to the chaos around him.
There’s guy stacking White Claws, occupied by what appears to be a delightful conversation with a faceless person below, also completely disengaged from impending flying football doom.
There’s our CSU-kerchief-wearing centerpiece — the martyr, if you will, of our “Last Supper” — bracing for impact.
There’s two different subjects — one a Patagonia-hat-wearing young man, the other an eyes-shut young woman — reaching out in an attempt to save her.
There’s our bangs-fixer in the corner. Our tube top above her. Our tiara wearer.
And, yes, the smitten couple between our two attempted football catchers — proving, yes, that love truly does conquer all.
So many subjects. So many possible outcomes. So many questions left unanswered.
Ponder them, my friends. Ponder them good.
