An assault suspect facing arrest by Denver police officers Sunday countered by releasing a chemical believed to be insecticide — requiring two ambulances to carry five officers to a hospital.
Other police took the suspect into custody after the incident near 45th Avenue and Sable Street, a dispatcher said.
“Six were injured and they transported five to the hospital,” the dispatcher said. “It was like a Raid bomb, a product for fumigation.”

The condition of the officers wasn’t determined as doctors checked them for possible harm from exposure to the chemicals.
