A 49-year-old woman was fatally stabbed at a home in the 2500 block of S. Cody Way in Lakewood on Wednesday morning, and a male at the residence was taken into custody, police said.

Police responded to the stabbing around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. The victim was found “suffering from multiple stab wounds,” according to a Lakewood Police Department press release.

First responders administered lifesaving measures on the woman, but she died at the scene. Police are treating the stabbing as a homicide.

No charges have yet been filed against the male who was in the home. There was no information made available about what, if any, relationship the two occupants had or the circumstances leading to the stabbing.

No one involved in the incident has been identified.
