Shoppers at Lakewood’s Belmar mall will be the next to reap the griddled benefits of In-N-Out Burger’s expansion into Colorado.

The California-based burger chain has submitted preliminary plans for a drive-thru restaurant at 150 S. Wadsworth Blvd., a vacant lot that sits just north of Alameda Avenue and the Belmar shopping center, the city of Lakewood confirmed Wednesday.

Lakewood’s review process could take around six months, according to Stacie Oulton, the city’s public information officer.

“The city’s review of the proposal is still in the preliminary stages,” Oulton told The Denver Post via email Wednesday, “and the plan will be modified prior to final approval.”

If approved, Lakewood would be the fifth Front Range outpost for the brand. So far, In-N-Out has set its sights on Colorado Springs, Lone Tree, Fort Collins and Aurora. No Denver addresses have been confirmed.

The burger brand’s Colorado headquarters should arrive in , with the opening of a 100,000-square-foot distribution facility and a 150,000-square-foot office building.

In-N-Out stores will follow toward the end of the year at Colorado Springs’ Victory Ridge development, Lone Tree’s Park Meadows Mall, Fort Collins’ College Avenue, Town Center in Aurora and now likely Belmar.
