Teen arrested on suspicion of having a gun at Grand Junction Central High School

No injuries were reported, the suspect is not a CHS student

A juvenile was arrested Wednesday after he was allegedly seen with a gun at Central High School in Grand Junction, authorities said.

The juvenile is not a student a central, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

About 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the school on a report of a boy with a gun. Students and staff members sheltered in place at the school, and police were brought in as a precaution.

As part of the investigation, deputies learned that the suspect had a possible connection to Grand Junction High School, which also was put on heightened security, the release said.

The suspect was taken into custody about 4:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Lombardy Lane. The incident remains under investigation. There were no reports of injuries.
