We will have a story for every game that had been scheduled until real-life baseball returns. Here’s a look at the virtual Rockies’ preseason preview. Another game, another win for the Rockies against the Padres.
Colorado hit a season-high 14 hits and Jon Gray had another strong start as the Rockies beat the Padres, 6-2, in the second game of their three-game set at Petco Park. The Rockies are 8-1 against the Padres this year.

The Rockies got in the runs column early. Charlie Blackmon drove in David Dahl with an RBI double in the first inning. After a Nolan Arenado single advanced Blackmon to third, Trevor Story singled in the bearded outfielder to make it 2-0.
Arenado hit a single to center in the second, driving in Gray and Dahl to give the Rockies a 4-0 lead.
Ryan McMahon made it 5-0 in the third, crushing a 421-foot homer to center field. He finished the game batting 3 for 4, including a double. Colorado added its sixth run in the fifth when Tony Wolters drove in Daniel Murphy with a single.
Gray (3-0) put in another strong performance, allowing just two runs and four hits while striking out seven in 6 2/3 innings. His earned-run average rose to 2.15 on the year. Jairo Diaz and Yency Almonte combined for 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief.
Padres starter Joey Lucchesi (1-2) had another rough start, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits in three innings.
Colorado improved to 13-4 on the year and hold a 2.5-game lead over the Dodgers (11-7) for first place in the National League West. San Diego fell to 7-11.
