It’s hard to believe it snowed in Denver less than a month ago.

After a seasonably mild weekend, Denver area temperatures are set to approach 90 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday, potentially marking Denver’s first official 90-degree reading of the year.

Denver’s average first 90-degree day falls on June 10, so a 90-degree reading next week would fall about three weeks earlier than the long-term average.

After a relatively cool Saturday with highs topping out around 70, temperatures will start to climb in earnest on Sunday, with a high of around 80. By Monday, though, a big ridge of high pressure will begin to pump up the heat, though temperatures should stay just shy of the daily record of 93 degrees set  May 18, 1996.

If Denver hits 90 degrees on Tuesday, it would tie a daily record for May 19.

Showers and storms will gradually begin to knock back temperatures though, starting on Tuesday night. Highs will slide back into the 80s by Wednesday, and right around 80 degrees for both Thursday and Friday.
