The Rams just lost another top target.
CSU’s Trey McBride, a junior tight end and a preseason All-Mountain West selection, has entered the transfer portal, McBride’s mother Kate confirmed to The Post on Tuesday.
“He really wants to play at the next level,” Kate McBride said. “He has nothing but respect for coach (Steve) Addazio and has loved his time at CSU.”

McBride’s departure from the program is the second major offensive hit Addazio’s program has taken this week. Senior wide receiver Warren Jackson announced via social media on Sunday that he was forgoing his final season in Fort Collins to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jackson cited the Mountain Westap decision to not play football this fall because of the coronavirus pandemic as a factor in his choice to leave the program.
That sentiment was shared by McBride, his mother said.
“I think once the Mountain West made the decision (to postpone the season), then he had to start making some decisions,” she said. “He just wants to play football.”
The loss of the 6-foot-4, 260-pound pass catcher is another blow to whatap been a trying month for Rams fans. CSU football activities are currently paused while the program is being investigated for allegations regarding racist and abusive language and for alleged violations of COVID-19 protocols.
Kate McBride said while she wasn’t sure of Trey’s destination, he is keeping an eye on his stock for the 2022 NFL Draft.
“Itap absolutely not because of the investigations,” Kate McBride stressed. “Itap just that he wants to play at the next level.”
