If you’re headed to the mountains this weekend to enjoy the , make sure you have .

Colorado residents along the I-70 corridor in Summit county are expected to get at 4-10 inches, while residents near Steamboat Springs can expect 10-18 inches of snow by Saturday morning, said Scott Entrekin, National Weather Service forecaster.

While there are no current plans for road closures, drivers should be prepared for potential safety closures to help avalanche reduction, said Elise Thatcher, communications manager for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

If you’re planning a trip to the mountains this weekend, Thatcher said, be ready for low visibility due to blowing snow.

Snow is increasing this afternoon and will continue into tonight, Entrekin said. Hazardous weather advisories are in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
