This will be the fourth straight Olympics for Elgeziry, who competed for his native Egypt in 2008, 2012 and 2016. In an interview with TeamUSA.org, he said it was always a dream to become an American. He moved to the states in 2014 and joined the U.S. Army in 2017 where is a member of the World Class Athlete Program, which allows him to train while serving in the military. He comes from a family of Olympic pentathlon athletes — his brother Emad represented Egypt in 2000; his brother Omar competed for Egypt in 2016; and his wife, Isabella Isaksen, was an American Olympian in 2016.
