Born in Molo, Kenya, Keter came to the United States on scholarship at NAIA school Wayland Baptist, where he specialized in the steeplechase. He then transferred to Texas Tech and placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In hopes of keeping his Olympic dream alive, Keter joined the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program in Colorado Springs and is about to compete in Tokyo this summer for his first Olympics.
