A wildfire forced authorities to temporarily shut down Interstate 70 Sunday afternoon between Eagle and Gypsum. Westbound I-70 was reopened at Eagle at 5:36 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol in Eagle, and eastbound lanes opened at 6:21 p.m.
The interstate was closed in both directions around 4 p.m. because strong winds were pushing the a newly started wildfire east along the highway, and authorities were seeing erratic fire behavior, according to Colorado State Patrol in Eagle.
