
Traffic on Loveland Pass was shut down Saturday for about six hours by safety concerns over strong winds and blowing snow.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure of U.S. Highway 6 over the pass on Twitter at 10:28 a.m.
Weather conditions on the pass, which climbs to an elevation of 11,991 feet, include patchy, blowing snow and winds gusting to 31 mph, according to the National Weather Service. At about 12:30 p.m. Saturday the temperature was 25 degrees and the humidity 80%.
Winds calmed down late in the afternoon and the pass reopened, CDOT said at 5:50 p.m. on Twitter.
