A cement mixer overturned Monday, Aug. 1, on Interstate 70 causing officials to close westbound lanes for hours. Getting your player ready...
Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Wheat Ridge reopened Monday evening after a five-hour closure for hazmat cleanup of a cement truck that rolled over on the road.
The Colorado Department of Transportation at 2:17 p.m Monday closed all westbound lanes at the 32nd Avenue/Youngfield exit and reopened them at 7:12 p.m.
The cement truck overturned after blowing a tire, according to Wheat Ridge police. The driver of the truck was OK, but the crash dumped cement and fuel on the highway.
So how heavy is a cement mixer fully loaded with 10 yards of cement? Really, REALLY heavy. This is why WB 70 is still closed at 32nd. Thanks for your patience!
