The Arapahoe County Aurora Motor Vehicle office has reopened after a nearly two-month closure because of a plumbing problem that had backed up sewage into the building.

The office, 490 S. Chambers Road, which also serves as an Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder Office, reopened Monday, according to a news release.

“The Aurora office serves the most customers of all our branches, so we’re glad to be back serving customers who rely on us for motor vehicle and recording services,” Clerk and Recorder Joan Lopez said. “We are grateful to everyone who had to reschedule appointments, and to our staff who showed a lot of flexibility during the closure. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we were taking the steps needed to reopen safely.”

The building has been extensively cleaned and disinfected, officials said. Damaged flooring, equipment and affected drywall have been removed and replaced.
