1. Cherry Creek (2-1) won vs. Chatfield, 28-5. Carson Tann ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a 73-yard burst to start the third quarter, while Ismael Cisse added a receiving score and Jordan Herron another on the ground as the three-time defending 5A state champions beat last year’s 4A champs. 2. Grandview (2-1) lost vs. No. 8 Ralston Valley, 33-21. Junior quarterback Liam Szarka rallied the Wolves all the way back from a 20-0 deficit with a pair of touchdown passes and a TD run, but Ralston Valley closed things out with back-to-back scores. Next week: at 4A No. 6 Fruita Monument
3. Regis Jesuit (2-1) won vs. No. 9 Arapahoe, 23-10. Quarterback Exander Carroll got things going early with a 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, then helped give the Raiders breathing room in the second half with a scoring pass to Andrew Metzger that was more than enough for Regis’ salty defense. Next week: vs. No. 8 Ralston Valley, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15
4. Valor Christian (2-1) won at Fairview, 38-15. Jake Isernhagen opened and closed the Eagles’ scoring with a pair of touchdown runs, while Trey Stott and Roman Bradley added one rushing TD apiece and Ethan Carlson found Rowdy Beers for a 15-yard score. Next week: vs. Liberty (Peoria, Ariz.), 7 p.m. Sept. 16
5. Columbine (3-0) won vs. Cherokee Trail, 35-7. The Rebels defense limited Cherokee Trail to 183 total yards and didn’t allow a touchdown until the fourth quarter in their third straight win by more than 20 points. Next week: vs. No. 9 Arapahoe, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
6. Legend (3-0) won vs. Castle View, 49-21. The Titans offensive machine kept on churning against the Sabercats as they crossed the 40-point threshold for the third consecutive week. Next week: at 4A No. 1 Ponderosa, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
7. ThunderRidge (3-0) won vs. Lakewood, 48-12. The Grizzlies jumped out to a 48-0 lead and coasted after that to start the season 3-0 for the second consecutive year. Lakewood didn’t get on the board until the fourth, ending a streak of seven straight scoreless quarters submitted by the ThunderRidge defense. Next week: vs. Chatfield, 7 p.m. Sept. 15
8. Ralston Valley (2-1) won at No. 2 Grandview, 33-21. Josh Rillos scored twice and sealed the upset with a late interception, and quarterback Logan Madden tossed three touchdowns and ran in another for the Mustangs’ second straight win since their Week 1 loss to Cherry Creek. Next week: at No. 3 Regis Jesuit, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15
9. Arapahoe (2-1) lost at No. 3 Regis Jesuit, 23-10. The Warriors special teams produced 10 points, with kicker Jackson Smith booting a 48-yard field goal and Charlie Eckhardt returning a kickoff for a touchdowns, but the offense could not get things going against the Raiders. Next week: at No. 5 Columbine, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
10. Pine Creek (2-1) won vs. 4A No. 8 Vista Ridge, 28-19. Mason Miller had scoring runs of 35 and 30 yards, Cam Cooper and Kai Goetze hooked up on a touchdown, and Jonathan Coar helped put things away with a 25-yard run to start the fourth quarter. Next week: at Denver East, 4 p.m. Sept. 16
Class 4A
1. Ponderosa (3-0) won vs. Golden, 56-7. The Mustangs’ red-hot start to the season continued with a blowout win over the Demons. Next week: vs. Legend, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
2. Palmer Ridge (3-0) won at Lewis-Palmer, 58-17. The Bears produced their highest point total since beating Holy Family 63-7 on Nov. 15, 2019, four days after ceding the top ranking in 4A to Ponderosa. Next week: vs. Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
3. Pueblo West (3-1) lost at Fountain-Fort Carson, 40-0. The Trojans defense smothered the Cyclones and produced back-to-back pick-six touchdowns in the second half, including one from Tai Faavae, in a dominant performance. Next week: Bye
4. Erie (1-2) lost vs. Montrose, 49-40. A brilliant performance from Tigers quarterback Blake Barnett (two TD runs of 60-plus yards and three passing TDs) was not enough to overcome the Red Hawks’ dominant ground-and-pound attack. Blake Griffin scored four rushing touchdowns, and three others found the end zone for Montrose, as the Red Hawks got a measure of revenge for last year’s 4A semifinal loss. 5. Broomfield (3-0) won at Vista Peak Prep, 55-6. Eagles quarterback Cole LaCrue needed just 19 passes (and 14 completions) to throw for 301 yards in a blowout win. The senior also ran eight times for 70 yards and a touchdown, while Brent Harris hauled in three passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns and Ryland Boehmer added 95 yards and two scores on 14 carries. 6. Fruita Monument (3-0) won at Skyline, 35-0. Senior Corben Rowell ran in two TDs, three other Wildcats found the end zone and the defense posted its first shutout since recording three during the 2019 season. Next week: vs. 5A No. 2 Grandview, 6 p.m. Sept. 15
7. Loveland (2-1) won at Pomona, 42-0. The Red Wolves defense returned a fumble for a touchdown to go up 28-0 going into the halftime break, and kept the Panthers out of the end zone the rest of the way to claim their second consecutive win by 40-plus points. 8. Vista Ridge (1-2) lost at 5A No. 10 Pine Creek, 28-19. Quarterback Brayden Dorman and receiver Keyshawn Dooley hooked up for a pair of scoring passes, and Dorman added a TD run to pull within nine points with 5:48 to go, but it wasn’t enough against the 5A Eagles. Next week: vs. Falcon, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
9. Denver South (3-0) won vs. Longmont, 58-35. South quarterback Joseph Capra put the game away with a touchdown run from 90-plus yards in the fourth quarter as the Ravens scored more than 50 points for the second straight week. Next week: at Golden, 4 p.m. Sept. 16
. Quarterback Blake Palladino threw four touchdown passes, including three during a 35-7 run between the first and second quarters, and Noah Triplett added a pair of scoring runs as the Eagles got in the win column in a big way. Next week: at Rampart, 7 p.m. Sept. 16
