A crash, a call for help and a mental health crisis: How a Boulder man’s 911 call ended with a deputy killing him

Body camera footage shows police response descend into violence

A Clear Creek County deputy shot and killed 22-year-old Christian Glass on June 11 after Glass called 911 for help after crashing his car into a berm. Glass, who was having a mental health crisis, told dispatchers he had two knives in the car and officer from several agencies tried for more than an hour to coax Glass from the car. The officers decided to break the window of the car to pull Glass out, despite there being no report of a crime, and Glass grabbed a knife. The deputy shot Glass after the 22-year-old turned in the driver's seat and stabbed toward a Georgetown police officer, who wasn't injured.
