The winter storm that shut down most of northeast Colorado Tuesday and blanketed the mountains in snow is lingering across the state Wednesday.
with 40 mph gusts, causing low visibility of one to three miles due to blowing snow.
The snowfall on the plains is minimal, with only a few light bands of snow remaining in the area; most of the visibility issues are from ground snow blowing in the wind.
Many roads are still closed due to treacherous conditions, and the continued wind may cause issues in clearing drifted snow on more rural roads.
Blowing snow continues over the plains today with poor visibility at times.

The worst conditions are from Sterling and Akron eastward, and conditions west of Fort Morgan and Limon should gradually improve throughout the day.
In the mountains, snow continues to fall even though the intensity has dropped, with up to four more inches of accumulation possible in some areas.
The higher mountain passes could have some high wind issues of gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Roads will remain slippery in some areas, along with localized blowing and drifting snow in higher exposed areas.
Denver has continued to miss the winter weather from the storm, though winds reaching up to 28 mph are possible throughout the day. The high for the day is 38 degrees, and the low is a frigid 16 degrees.
