A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 westbound in Glenwood Canyon, which included a tanker truck leaking and an hours long shutdown, has been cleared, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The westbound lanes shut down at Dotsero, exit 133, before 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

CDOT announced that the wreckage was cleared just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Twitter post.

Just after the crash, the state patrol advised drivers to expect a “long closure” and said hazmat crews were on scene due to a tanker truck leakage.

“Motorists should anticipate the westbound safety closure being in place until at least this (Tuesday) evening,” the said .

Westbound motorists were detoured to the northern alternate route, which added at least 2.5 hours of travel time, CDOT said.

Four commercial vehicles were involved in the crash, CDOT said, and crews worked to safely to drain 7,000 gallons of gasoline from a tanker in the crash to a replacement tanker, about a four-hour process. The tanker spilled about 3,000 gallons of gasoline in the crash. The spillage was contained with a hazardous materials crew overseeing the clean up. No injuries were reported.
