The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has identified 21-year-old Maya Hofknecht as the woman killed in an early morning crash Feb. 9.
Hofknecht, a Loveland resident, died from blunt force injuries related to the crash, according to a release from the office.
Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Troy Kessler said the call for the crash at U.S. 287 and Carpenter Road in Fort Collins just north of Loveland came in around 2:20 a.m. Feb. 9.
He said Hofknecht was traveling south in a 2008 Subaru Outback on U.S. 287 behind a semi trailer, driven by a 29-year-old Greeley man. He said Hofknecht ran into the back of the semi and was pronounced dead on scene.
Kessler added that while both Hofknecht and the semi driver were wearing their seat belts, impairment and excessive speed are believed to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the semi did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
