Two people died in a hit-and-run crash Friday on U.S. Highway 287 north of Longmont, and investigators have found a pickup truck involved in the crash.

The crash happened about 5 p.m., and road rage is suspected in the four-vehicle incident, according to the .

Witnesses told investigators that drivers of two vehicles, a dark red or maroon pickup and a Chevrolet Camaro, were possibly involved in a road-rage incident before the crash, the State Patrol said.

The pickup collided with the left side of the Camaro, spinning the coupe into oncoming traffic, where it was hit on the passenger side by a northbound Toyota Tundra. Two people in the Camaro died at the scene. The driver of the Tundra was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The driver of the maroon pickup truck, a 2009 or newer Dodge Ram 1500, fled. The truck, which has  chrome front and rear bumpers and chrome wheels, has damage on the right side. The driver is described as a heavy set, white man, between the age 50 and 60 with a white beard.

On Tuesday the state patrol announced that the “pickup truck has been located and secured” after investigators received numerous tips from the public. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
