A fatal rollover crash early Thursday forced road closures for several hours near South Tower Road and East Kansas Place in Aurora, authorities said.
This single-vehicle crash happened around 2:41 a.m., according to an Aurora Police Department posting on Twitter. Northbound and eastbound lanes were closed.
Investigators, in a news release, said a man driving a blue Cadillac SUV was northbound on Tower Road when the vehicle left the roadway, ran through several backyards and rolled.
The driver, the only person in the vehicle, was partially ejected and he died at the scene. He’ll be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
South Tower Road between East Mississippi and East Louisiana avenues was closed for about eight hours for the crash investigation. The roadway reopened about 10:15 a.m.
The crash marks the 43rd traffic-related death this year in Aurora.
