Denver saw a record-high temperature of 86 degrees on Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Weather sensors at Denver International Airport logged a temperature of 86 degrees for almost an hour on Friday starting at 2:50 p.m., said Zach Hiris, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Boulder office.
The previous record high was 83 degrees set on Oct. 20, 1950.
Temperatures will continue to be above normal through the weekend, Hiris said.
Denver officially recorded a high of 86 degrees this afternoon, which is a new daily record. 🌡️ This breaks the previous record of 83F, which was set in 1950.

“I don’t think we have any records in store for Saturday or Sunday. We will still have highs in the upper 70s for the weekend, but not record-breaking,” Hiris said.
A big ridge of high pressure over the Denver metro area is contributing to the warm, sunny days, Hiris said.
