Colorado is adding more young talent to its defensive front.
On Tuesday night, former Pittsburgh edge rusher Samuel Okunlola announced his intentions to transfer to CU and play for Coach Prime.
A redshirt freshman this past season, Okunlola is rated by 247Sports.com as fourth-best defensive lineman in the transfer portal.
After playing sparingly and redshirting in 2022, Okunlola, listed at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, played in nine games this past season for the Panthers, recording 18 tackles, six tackles for loss and five sacks. He also forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery.
Coming out of Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass., in the 2022 class, Okunlola was a three-star recruit with 54 scholarship offers, including from Colorado. He took an official visit to CU before ultimately signing with Pitt.
In the past few days, CU has received commitments from five transfers who play in the front seven, including edge rushers Keaten Wade (Kentucky) and Quency Wiggins (LSU) and defensive linemen Anquin Barnes (Alabama) and Chidozie Nwankwo (Houston).
Overall, CU has 16 transfer commits and with Okunlola on board, the Buffs have the No. 1-rated transfer class by 247Sports, jumping over Mississippi.
