Colorado’s return to Lincoln, Neb., will be on national television.
On Monday, it was announced that CU’s football game on Sept. 7 at Nebraska will kick off at 5:30 p.m. MT and air on NBC. The network announced the game time as part of its Upfront presentation, showcasing the network’s portfolio of sports, entertainment, news and streaming platforms to advertisers.
CU kicks off its second season under head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State at Folsom Field in Boulder. The game time and TV assignment has not yet been announced for that game.
The Buffs will visit Nebraska in Week 2, completing the second home-and-home set between the longtime former Big Eight and Big 12 rivals.
The Buffs are 3-0 against the Cornhuskers since both teams left the Big 12 after the 2010 season. CU won 33-28 in Lincoln in 2018 and secured a 34-31 overtime victory in Boulder in 2019. Sanders led the Buffs to a 36-14 rout of the Huskers last year in Boulder.
The Buffs have never won four in a row against the Huskers. Nebraska leads the all-time series 49-21-2, including a record of 26-9 in Lincoln.
After appearing on network TV five times last year, the Buffs will be on NBC for the first time since beating Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, 1995.
CU has been on NBC seven times in its history, with four of those being Orange Bowl appearances (1962, 1977, 1990 and 1991), as well as two Fiesta Bowls (1993 and 1995). CU was also on NBC for its tie against Tennessee in the Pigskin Classic on Aug. 26, 1990.
