2 hospitalized after Aurora duplex catches fire

A cat was killed in the fire, Aurora fire officials said.

Two people, including an Aurora police officer, were taken to the hospital Monday night after in the city’s Meadow Hills neighborhood.

Aurora Fire Rescue crews responded to a duplex fire in the 3700 block of South Fairplay Way at around 6 p.m., the agency said on social media. Fire crews before the flames were contained at approximately 6:30 p.m.

An who was first on scene and one other person were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but are expected to recover, according to the fire department and Aurora Police Department. One cat was killed in the fire.

Both homes in the duplex were heavily damaged and the , officials said.
