A large brush fire burning near Interstate 70 in Garfield County closed the highway in both directions for about five hours Friday night, state and local officials said.

I-70 reopened between Rifle and Parachute at 10:10 p.m. Friday, according to the

Sheriff’s officials also lifted evacuation orders for the Rulison area, halfway between Rifle and Parachute, on Friday night.
