A person changing a car tire on the shoulder of Interstate 25 was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle Saturday morning.
The vehicle, described as a black Toyota 4Runner, allegedly then fled the scene, .
The crash happened at about 7 a.m. on southbound I-25 just north of the West Alameda Avenue exit. The pedestrian, identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner as 52-year-old Carlos Mercado Arzola, was changing a car tire on the right shoulder, police said.
His cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, according to the medical examiner.
Police are asking anyone with information about the vehicle in the crash to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Police believe the suspect vehicle has severe damage on its front passenger side.
