Nearly 400 flights delayed Sunday at Denver International Airport

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, 388 flights had been delayed at DIA and four were canceled

Nearly 400 flights were delayed Sunday at Denver Denver International Airport amid afternoon thunderstorms, and a handful were canceled.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, 388 flights headed in and out of DIA had failed to leave the gate on time, and seven were canceled entirely, according to flight tracking software .

Southwest delayed 138 flights, followed by 116 United flights, 71 SkyWest flights, 22 Frontier flights and 11 American Airlines flights, according to FlightAware. Ten other airlines delayed between one and nine flights.

United canceled four flights Sunday and Frontier canceled two, according to FlightAware. Southwest canceled one flight.

No traffic management programs — including ground delays and ground stops — were active at DIA at 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the .

Rain showers and thunderstorms are likely across the metro area before midnight, and are expected to pick back up on Monday morning, forecasters said.

There's a low risk of flooding across Denver on Sunday, but that is also expected to increase in the coming days, according to the Colorado Department of Natural Resources’ .
