Westbound Interstate 76 partially reopened Monday morning north of Denver after a three-car crash involving a semitrailer shut down the highway during rush hour, according to investigators.
As of 11:45 a.m. Monday, two lanes of I-76 remained closed between Sheridan Boulevard and Interstate 70, .
One semitrailer and two cars crashed on the highway earlier that morning, causing minor injuries to an unknown number of people, according to the .
Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to the three-vehicle crash at 6:44 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the agency.
Investigators said the semitrailer jack-knifed on the road, causing the other two cars to crash, state patrol officials said in the release. The crash spilled an undetermined amount of fuel from the semitrailer’s side tank onto the highway.
Anyone who witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to investigators is asked to contact the Colorado State Patrol dispatch at 303-239-4501.
Nearby, another section of westbound I-76 was closed Monday morning at Federal Boulevard for “safety concerns,” . The closure caused up to 25-minute delays for drivers, but no information about the cause was available.
As of 11:45 a.m., that closure had fully reopened to traffic, according to CDOT.
