A TASTE OF COLORADO

Apple Shed

708 Fremont St., Penrose

719-372-3527

It’s hard to miss the Apple Shed if you’re traveling Colorado 115 southwest of Colorado Springs. After all, the place is shaped like a big red barn, and there’s a giant rocking chair sitting in the front parking lot. But the real draw is inside the shed, where a shop up front features a variety of Colorado-made edibles, and a diner in the back features a daily selection of pies. Apple, peach or cherry? Hmmm. We’ll go with the cherry.

ROCKABYE BABIES

Baby Loves Disco

2- 5 p.m. Feb. 4, Boulder Theater

bouldertheater.com

A top concert venue tarted up for the toddler set? Stop yourself before you say “Only in Boulder.” Baby Loves Disco, born in Philly and moving west, is for hipster parents who have sacrificed rockin’ it for rocking the kids. There’s a $10 cover for anyone who can walk ($30 for families of four or more). Inside the theater, expect a DJ spinning classic disco tunes from the ’70s and ’80s, a spread of healthy snacks from Wild Oats, bubble machines, diaper-changing stations and lots of booty shaking. And, yes, the bar will be open for moms and dads who like a little afternoon nip.

THEY’RE FAN-TASTIC

Denver Broncos plates

denverbroncos.com

Maybe it was the long dry spell that kept it from happening before, but the Denver Broncos are just now getting around to lobbying the Colorado legislature for a specialty license plate that plays homage to the orange and blue. It will take at least 3,000 individual fans expressing interest – not necessarily committing to purchase a plate – to get the deal done. If you can envision your 1991 Ford Bronco sporting a “apountry” plate, weigh in at denverbroncos.com. Do it for the team.
