He threw two passes, completing one for 24 yards.
So it’s official then. The jury still is out on Jay Cutler.
Sure, it was nice the Broncos won their preseason opener, but don’t kid yourself. Cutler has a lot of work to get done and little time to do it.
Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler have had the pads on for less than a week. For all we know, Rod Smith has played his last NFL game. Oh, and the backup tailback job and starting fullback job still are in doubt.
That doesn’t just put pressure on those players. In the end, it’s the quarterback who has to coordinate it all. In Cutler’s perfect world, none of these issues would be out there. But they are.
Maybe he’s up to the task of pulling it all together in a relatively short period of time. The kid, after all, does have tons of talent.
Good thing, because he’s going to need it. The Broncos need their offense to be clicking, and soon. They open the season on the road at Buffalo. And you know how road openers have treated them lately.
