Tri-County Health Department officials are investigating how a 3-year-old in Arapahoe County contracted the E. coli virus that caused the boy’s death on Friday.
The E. coli virus was confirmed Monday, but officials with Tri-County Health Department are still investigating the strain of the virus, said agency spokesman Gary Sky.
The child attended a private in-home day-care center, and the parents of the other children have been notified, Sky said. “In a day-care center where there’s diapering, there’s always a chance that feces contamination can be spread to toys or even food,” he said.
