Short Order

Just wanted to write and say how much I appreciate John Broening’s contributions to the food section. I can only afford to eat at Duo once in a while (and last time I left my boxed-up cassoulet leftovers on the table and spent the rest of the evening grieving for them), but I can read his articles and recipes every week. Not many chefs write as well as they cook.

We’re mad about Chef Broening, too. You’ll be pleased to know that he, and the rest of the Duo team (including whiz-bang pastry chef Yasmin Lozada-Hissom) are opening a new restaurant next month. Look for Olivea to open at 719 E. 17th Avenue in early May.

Good Deal

Restaurant Week, Schmestaurant Week! Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse in Cherry Creek is still offering the $52.80 dinner for two — but only on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. (Juicy Lucy’s, 250 Josephine St., 303-393-6700, .) And with your leftovers, make lunch:

Steak-and-peanut wraps

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon mayonnaise with a spritz of lime juice. Lightly spread on a tortilla. Lay out a few thin slices of steak. Sprinkle chopped green onion, carrot, cilantro and crushed peanuts over the top. Carefully roll tortilla and wrap.
