AURORA — A fight in Aurora just after midnight left one man dead from a stab wound, Aurora police said Sunday.
A group of men were fighting when the deadly assault happened in the 1200 block of North Chambers Road, said Detective Bob Friel.
Investigators weren’t characterizing the fight Sunday, including any possible cause for it.
“Obviously the investigation is still dredging up information,” Friel said Sunday afternoon. “However, there is no indication at this stage that this was gang-related. We still need to talk to more people, though.”
Anyone with information may call Detective Tom Welton at 303-739-6107.
Investigators aren’t sure how many people were involved.
The name of the person killed also has not been released, pending a positive identification from the coroner’s office. Detectives hadn’t determined his name as of Sunday, Friel said.
The fight occurred in the same block as the Hinkley High School campus, which occupies much of the eastern side of the street, a few blocks south of East Colfax Avenue, but the fight did not happen at the school, Friel said.
