GRAND JUNCTON, Colo.—Exxon Mobil is adding employees in western Colorado and has also added another day of pre-employment testing because of heavy interest.

The company will test job seekers June 5 and 6 in Grand Junction for production work at its Piceance (PEE’-ance) Creek operations. Exxon Mobil spokesman J.D. Estes says people who pass the test will be interviewed.

The energy giant currently employs about 55 people as field operators, mechanics and instrument and electrical technicians in the Piceance Basin. Its total area workforce runs from 1,000 to 1,500, including contractors.

The Piceance Basin is one of Colorado’s major natural gas producing areas. Exxon Mobil has maintained a steady rate of production there even as the recession has slowed other companies.
