celebrated vampire chic long before “True Blood” and “Twilight” — 20 years before, in fact. The Blonde has hit the road this summer in honor of the 20th anniversary of “Bloodletting,” their most commercially successful album, and home to “Joey,” their Top-20 radio hit.

Johnette Napolitano (not the director of Homeland Security), guitarist James Mankey and drummer Gabriel Ramirez brought a solid, polished and rockin’ two hours of music to the usually reserved, but beautiful, amphitheatre.

Napolitano was in fine spirits and fine form, vocally, as the band tore through the entire “Bloodletting” album. They also visited a spattering of new material along with a healthy dose of classics from their 25-year career. Several generations of tattooed, heavily eye-lined fans slipped happily back into the warm, dark Arvada night.
