In 2011, “Someone Like You” seems to be the breakup song du jour. A friend of mine once had a girlfriend break up with him by calling him and playing REO Speedwagon’s “Time for Me to Fly” into the phone. Another friend got through her mess by cleaning house to Yaz’ “Situation (Move On)”. Sure, there will always be the cynics like Frank Zappa who say “broken hearts are for assholes,” but let’s face it, can’t we all use a good cry once in a while? “Sometimes it lasts … sometimes it hurts instead,” Adele mourns about love. And sometimes it does both if you don’t get antibiotics for it.
