Shield family treasures from time

The Society of Rocky Mountain Archivists and the Denver Public LibraryWestern History/Genealogy Department are offering quick “family treasures” (books, paper, photographs, textiles, paintings and objects) sessions with conservation specialists from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Stop by the “Ask an Archivist” table to learn about organizing and storing your family materials. DPL staff will digitize your artifacts as part of the new Colorado social archive, “Creating Your Community.” Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended. The UH-1 “Huey” is one of the most widely produced aircraft worldwide. The military and law enforcement agencies of 71 nations have used or are using the Huey. The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum and Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society present an Open Cockpit Day with the UH-1H Huey from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 28. The cost is $7 for ages 10 and older. High-altitude sugar rush

A new exhibit on the history of candy and confectionery shops in Estes Park opens Friday at the Estes Park Museum. “A Sweet Past Time”includes photography, confectionery and candy-related objects and activities for all ages. There’s an ice cream social with cotton candy, root beer floats and ice cream (of course!) from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The exhibit continues through Nov. 4. Hours vary.
