The 2012 Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism from the Radio Television Digital News Association, on Tuesday honored three Colorado news outlets:

KUSA won for video feature reporting and KMGH won for its website among large market TV stations, and KUNC-FM in Greeley won for excellence in broadcast journalism among small market radio stations.

This marks the third year in a row KUNC’s newsroom has won the award.

KUNC reporter Grace Hood won in the investigative category for a report examining a for-profit company that oversees the day-to-day operations at the state’s largest public online school. The report weighed state oversight, academic results and use of taxpayer money at the state’s full-time online schools.

KUSA’s by reporter-anchor Cheryl Preheim and former 9NEWS photojournalist Anne Herbst, who now works for The Denver Post, won for video feature. The conversation between young Adde and soldier Sean is touching. (“At least I have a warm bed,” the girl observes.)

Denver’s KMGH-Channel 7 won for best large market TV website, for theDenverChannel.com.
