ASPEN, Colo.—Pitkin County water regulators have rejected a request for $25,000 to upgrade a 50-year-old wastewater plant.

The Pitkin County Healthy Rivers and Streams Board says it would set a bad precedent for other districts if they provide the money.

According to the Aspen Daily News ( ), the plant that serves 450 people at Aspen Village includes three lagoons where about 34,000 gallons a day of wastewater flows in for treatment before being released into the Roaring Fork River.
