Remember when used to be country? Yeah, it wasn’t that long ago, and based on the direction she’s heading with the new material from her upcoming the country days are long behind her.
Taylor Swift has shared her new song, “Out of the Woods,” a big synth pop anthem that’s far less organic than the track’s title would suggest.
This new track seems to pull inspiration from the success of synth-pop acts like CHVRCHES, with thick ’80s inspired production. It even kicks off with a chopped up, looping vocal sample that re-emerges in the tracks bridges. Even Swift’s vocal treatment is reminiscent of CHVRCHES Lauren Mayberry.
Swift has already shared the uninspired which is an awkward hip-hop-ish tough girl type song (also not country).
