
A wildfire burning in Grand County is about 600 acres and is 60 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon, according to firefighters.
The Rifle Range at the Byers Canyon Shooting Range by a .223 full metal jacket round, according to a Grand County media release.
The fire is burning on private, state and federal lands, through sage and grasses, with sporadic torching of lodgepole pines.
Sections of U.S. Highway 40 through Byers Canyon will be intermittently closed because of the fire.
There have been no injuries or structures damaged by the fire.
On Tuesday afternoon evacuations were not under consideration.
The ammunition that sparked the fire is legal and allowed at the state operated range.
