Denver will have one more day of balmy temperatures before a significant cool down by late Tuesday, forecasters say.

“There’s a big blob coming our way,” said Eric Thaler, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The blob — or storm system — will enter the state from the West, bringing rain and cooler temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, Thaler said.

The high by Wednesday could be in the 50s, or 20 degrees cooler than the forecast for Monday.

Thaler said it will be mostly cloudy Monday, with temperatures breaking above the 70-degree mark. There is a slight chance for rain in the late morning and afternoon Monday, he said.

By Tuesday night, there is a 50 percent chance for rain in the Denver metro area. There is also a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, when temperatures will drop to the high 50s and low 60s, Thaler said.

The Denver area will dry out by Friday, when temperatures will rise slightly to the 60s. Weekend temperatures are expected to also be in the 60s, he said.

The skies are expected to be clear on Saturday, Thaler said.
