EDM is an interesting beast. It’s probably the most popular music in America, based on show attendance. But it’s difficult to nail down what we actually mean by “EDM.” In its simplest, it is “electronic dance music.” That term is an umbrella covering a wide range of sounds. Unlike bands playing traditional instruments, who are limited to the sounds they can produce on a guitar, bass and drums, EDM artists have seemingly limitless possibilities of what they can create. As a result, EDM music contains volumes of varying styles, with genres nesting under other genres like a super complicated family tree.

Boulder DJ and producer takes full advantage of the creative possibilities in EDM. The root intention of his music is to create something that moves booties. All of his songs do that; it’s impossible to listen and not move. Even old church ladies would likely tap a foot when they hear it. But then, church ladies would probably be terribly confused by what they are hearing. At once, there are classic, jazz-inspired melodies but also sounds entirely alien, entirely new. In short, it’s weird and beautiful.

This fall, Elijah Moore has really stepped things up, spending all his time in the studio and constantly releasing music, including the EP “First Flight.” He also had a huge show at Fox Theater and landed a clothing sponsorship. He’s a damn EDM rock star.

Below, download the unreleased track “Squeeze w_the WVRLORD,” a spacey, somewhat menacing example of Elijah’s creative mind. Then, check out the rest of his music on .
