A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Colorado high country with between 4 and 10 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 50 mph expected Friday.

“We’ll have icy, snow-packed roads and poor visibility on mountain roads,” said Bob Koopminers, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Snow is also expected in the Denver metro area but only a trace to a half-inch of snow is expected to fall Friday night.

“We could get a little something but not much. It’s not going to be a big deal,” Koopminers said.

Temperatures will drop about 10 degrees from Thursday’s high of 44 to the mid 30s, he said. The low temperature Friday night is expected to be in the teens.

The high temperature through the weekend will be in the 30s.

Although there is a chance for snow flurries Sunday morning, it won’t be snowing by kickoff Sunday afternoon in the playoff game between the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“There’s no chance of snow during the game. Temperatures will be between 30 to 35 degrees. Winds shouldn’t be a factor. It should be good football weather,” Koopminers said.
