One lane in each direction of Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon reopened Thursday afternoon, more than a week after a rock slide closed the road.

Travelers will be guided through the 6-mile stretch of road by pace cars, and motorists should expect some delays, Amy Ford, Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman, said during a conference call.

Work continues to go forward on the road, and it could be closed for short periods of time as equipment is brought in.

A pounded I-70 on Feb. 15, forcing the closure.

A 10-foot width restriction remains in place, and wide trucks still will be routed along detours. The road will be open around the clock.

It could take another month before work on the four-lane stretch is complete.
