A tractor-trailer driver died Thursday morning when his truck veered off Interstate 25 in Wellington and into a group of garages.

The Larimer County coroner has identified the driver as Donald Butterfield, 51, of South Dakota.

The accident happened at 4:16 a.m., near Crittenton Lane.

The truck went off the east side of the highway and crashed into residential garages at a multi-unit complex.

No other parties were involved in the crash, said Trooper Josh Lewis, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

The road has not been closed in the area. “It is a matter of getting a lot of things cleaned up,” Lewis said.
